Getting Started

What age groups do you work with?

โ–พ
We work with children from 6 months through to 18 years. The brain is most plastic in the early years, making early intervention especially impactful โ€” but meaningful progress is possible at any age. We encourage families to seek support as soon as concerns arise rather than waiting for a formal diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

โ–พ
Yes. Anavia operates on a referral-only basis โ€” this ensures every child is appropriately matched with the right therapy from the start. Referrals can come from paediatricians, developmental specialists, schools, or other healthcare professionals. If you don't yet have one, please call us โ€” we'll happily guide you through the process.

How do I know if my child needs therapy?

โ–พ
Trust your instinct as a parent. If your child is struggling with developmental milestones, school tasks, self-care, sensory challenges, motor coordination, attention, or emotional regulation โ€” especially if these are affecting their daily happiness or ability to participate in normal activities โ€” an evaluation is worth seeking. A single assessment can provide enormous clarity, even if therapy turns out not to be needed.
Therapy & Sessions

What happens at the first visit?

โ–พ
Your first visit is a comprehensive 60โ€“90 minute clinical evaluation. Anamika assesses your child across all relevant developmental areas, takes a detailed history from parents, observes the child in structured and unstructured activities, and creates a personalised therapy plan that is shared with you before you leave. You will not go home without clarity and a clear next step.

How many sessions will my child need?

โ–พ
This varies based on each child's specific needs and rate of progress. After the evaluation we provide a realistic estimate. Many children show meaningful progress within 8โ€“12 weeks, though some benefit from longer-term support. We review goals regularly and keep you fully informed โ€” there are never any surprises.

Is the therapy evidence-based?

โ–พ
Absolutely. Every therapeutic approach at Anavia is grounded in peer-reviewed research and internationally recognised clinical frameworks โ€” including Ayres Sensory Integration, neuro-motor development science, and occupation-based models of child development. We continuously update our practice to reflect the latest advances in the field. We do not use unproven or experimental treatments.

What is occupational therapy for children?

โ–พ
Paediatric occupational therapy focuses on enabling children to participate fully in the everyday activities that matter to them โ€” self-care, school, play, and social interaction. Unlike physiotherapy (which focuses on physical movement and pain), OT takes a whole-child approach โ€” addressing sensory, motor, cognitive, emotional, and functional dimensions as one integrated picture. At Anavia, our clinical child therapy is rooted in this holistic OT framework.
Family & Practical

How can parents support therapy at home?

โ–พ
Parent involvement is one of the most powerful predictors of therapeutic success. Every family receives a personalised home programme โ€” practical, joyful activities that reinforce what we work on in sessions. Consistent daily practice multiplies the benefits of clinic-based therapy dramatically. We also schedule regular parent guidance sessions to update strategies as your child progresses.

Will you communicate with my child's school?

โ–พ
With your consent, yes โ€” we are happy to liaise with teachers, school counsellors, or special educators to ensure therapy recommendations carry through into the school environment. Consistency across home, clinic, and school is one of the most impactful factors in a child's overall progress.

Where are you located, and what are your hours?

โ–พ
Anavia Clinical Child Therapy Centre is located in Pune, Maharashtra. Please call us at 74629 99756 for the exact address and directions. We see children Monday to Friday, 9AMโ€“7PM, and Saturdays 9AMโ€“5PM. All appointments are by referral and prior scheduling โ€” please call to confirm availability.
